EVENT: 

Managed Care Organization (MCO) Call

DATES: 

April 9th, May 14th, June 11th, August 13th, September 10th, October 8th, and November 12th.

WHAT IS THE EVENT? 

A forum where parents/caregivers have the opportunity to ask questions and/or discuss issues they are having with their Medicaid MCO (Highmark Health Options or AmeriHealth Caritas). Common issues discussed have included: care coordination requests, in home care hours, denials, therapies, private duty nursing, supplies, equipment and medication. During the call MCO’s and Medicaid representatives, along with other partner organizations can help problem solve with you.MCO calls are offered in English and the Spanish language. Held every 2nd Tueday at 11am EST (no call in July or December)

The Division of Public Health Maternal and Child Health is hosting focus groups for mothers of children with special health needs. Attached is a recruitment flyer (labeled “DPHFocusGroups SpecialNeeds”) to share with your networks and post on your website.

Do you want to be more involved in a decision-making group but not sure where to begin? Are you tired of feeling list or ineffective during meetings instead of feeling like an active member of a decision-making group? So many times we are on committees or in meetings but don’t know what the process is or how to fully participate. This workshop will help you gain strategies to be able to navigate decision-making groups. This training was created to support families, educators, service providers, and other professionals serving on decision-making groups.

Creating a Care Notebook

WHAT IS THE EVENT? 

This educational event will share The Care Notebook resources (all materials, binder, and tangible notebook document will be created). We will do a deep dive into the creation and utilization of The Care Notebook with the support of staff, as well as go into scenarios and experiences that your Care Notebook can be utilized in when supporting your loved one.

A Care Notebook will help you keep everything important organized and easy to find, especially in an instance where you’re medical home information is not stored on an app or virtual space. The Care Notebook will give caregivers the information needed to best take care of your child in various settings and life experiences, including times of transition and even emergencies.

WHAT IS THE EVENT? 

Representative Cyndie Romer is facilitating a taskforce to review Deaf and Hard of Hearing services throughout the state. As part of the taskforce, a parent/caregiver listening session will be held to receive to gather input from those families navigating services.

Announcing parent listening session scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 6:30pm. Participants may attend in-person at Legislative Hall (411 Legislative Ave, Dover, DE 19901) in the House Majority Hearing Room or on Zoom. We’re asking that all participants register here: bit.ly/Oct24Meeting. There are instructions for how to submit written comments on this page as well. Accommodations are available for individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing.
