“AIM” FOR ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR Workshop – May 29

“AIM” FOR ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR

How Accessible Instructional Materials “AIM” and Assistive Technology
(“AT”) Tools Can Help Your Child Access the General Curriculum

As we wrap up the 2019 school year, it’s time to look back on what worked for your student and
consider areas where they are still struggling. Summer is a perfect time to begin to investigate new
tools and strategies to start the next school year off on a positive note! This workshop is designed to
teach families about various forms of assistive technology for students who struggle with reading.
Parents will learn:
– What Accessible Instructional Materials are
– How materials delivered in an alternative format may help an individual student with their
reading
– How to request AIM in the IEP meeting
– Where to get AIM
– What tools can be used to access the materials
– Other forms of Assistive Technology that may be useful in school

Also, the Assistive Technology Resources available within the State of Delaware will be introduced and upcoming dates for the Summer Open House series co-presented by the Delaware Assistive
Technology Initiative, Easterseals, and the Parent Information Center of Delaware will be announced.
