Delaware Hands & Voices Online Learning Community – April 28
Hands & Voices will be hosting an educational seminar for the HRSA Learning Community Program through Zoom with an ASL interpreter and captions.
The Learning Community is designed to:
• Develop collaborative leadership skills for members of family organizations that support
infants and children who are deaf or hard of hearing;
• Engage and include family partners and pediatric clinicians to ensure that the family and
health professional perspective and experiences are integrated
The online Learning Community event will be presented in the following format:
• 5 min pretest
• 15-30 min presentation
• 15 min questions and discussion
• 5 min evaluation/posttest
About this online Learning Community event:
It takes time to process your own reaction, learn about audiology, and get answers to the
many questions that you are suddenly confronted with after a diagnosis, whether recently
or years ago. We all want the best for our children! Becoming empowered advocates is
a great gift we can give to them- and to ourselves. Dr. Saperstein’s “F-I-G method” is a
framework that can be applied to advocating for your child in many different situations.
