Child Care

Child care providers may not discriminate againstĀ children with special healthcare needs. They must provide children with an equal opportunity to participate in their programs and services. Child care providers must do an individualized assessments to determine whether they can meet the particular needs of a child with a disability who seeks services from their program, without fundamentally altering their program. In each case, the provider must talk with the parents or guardians and other professionals who work with the child. Providers are often surprised at how simple it is to include children with special needs in their programs.

Finding the right child care setting for your child is an important decision. Talk with several providers to make sure that all of your child's needs can be met.
